Volunteering
Volunteering has always been the backbone of the organisation, beginning with the first ambulance brigade in Christchurch in the 1800s and continuing today.
Our team of over 8,000 volunteers work side by side with staff in a range of roles across medical services and ambulance crews, Youth groups, caring community support and behind the scenes too.
As a Hato Hone St John volunteer, you will be supported throughout your journey, you'll learn new skills, make lifelong friends, attend social events and access St John benefits, you'll work with one of New Zealand's most trusted charities and most importantly, give something back to your community!
