About the role
As part of a small team you will oversee the property grounds, public areas, general facilities and hotel guest rooms across two hotels - Rydges & QT Queenstown
Conduct preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns in accommodation rooms and public areas
In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, manage all external contractors to ensure quality of work and OH&S standards are met
Undertake painting, plastering and general maintenance activities
Respond to guest requests in a polite and timely manner
Fulfil work orders and tasks in a timely manner
Monitor task and time sheets accurately to ensure correct charging applies
Complete daily rounds, identifying and reporting problems
Full-Time position, 40 hours/week guaranteed
Skills and experience
Proven experience in general property maintenance
Customer service orientated with a happy, friendly disposition
The ability to work both unsupervised and in a team environment
Exceptional focus on attention to detail
A logical and practical approach to general maintenance problems
Have a great attitude and do what it take to get the job done right
You must be physically fit, have a get-up-and-go attitude
Be someone who won't stop until the job is completed in a safe and presentable manner
In this role, weekend work will be required on a five day roster

Title: Maintenance Attendant
Reports to: Maintenance Manager, Rooms Division Manager and/or General Manager
Position Overview: Assisting the Maintenance Manager with ongoing routine and preventative maintenance along with refurbishment projects. All duties apply to the entire property (interior and exterior) as well as associated buildings that might affect the operations of the hotel.
Take direction from Maintenance Manager, Rooms Division Manager and/or General Manager as well as maintaining a proactive approach.
Respond to and carry out all inter departmental or guest requests concerning defects, repairs and / or general assistance in a timely manner, according to priority. When defects or repairs are outside your capabilities, communicate this to the Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
General duties may include, but is not limited to cleaning, painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, sanitation stations etc.
Preventative duties may include, but is not limited to paint touch ups, checking card reader batteries, cleaning air con filters, ensuring that electrical appliances are in working order and safe to use, checking alarm systems are working correctly, testing fire dampers etc.
Log all defects, work and/or repairs carried out in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure that all equipment (grinders, tools, machinery) is used for its intended purpose, kept cleaned, well maintained and kept safe.
Have an understanding of BWOF (Building Warrant of Fitness) and Compliance Requirements, ensuring that all possible measures are taken to maintain this.
Have an understanding of the building systems, including but not limited to water, sewerage, waste management, electrical, HVAC systems etc.
Follow the hotel policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals to ensure compliance, safety and profitability.
Give assistance and support to other departments and/or colleagues when needed.
Be a brand ambassador for the hotel as well as Event Hospitality & Entertainment.
Attend all scheduled meetings.
Participate in scheduled training and development programs.
Trustworthy, punctual and a positive attitude.
Physical fitness to cope with a labour-intensive operation.
Work together with trust and treat all guests and colleagues from all cultural groups with respect.
