Job Description

We are locally based, operating for the past 25 years. We look after our staff, many of whom have worked with us for over 10 years, and are themselves Seniors.

  • Our business is the distribution of the NZ Herald newspaper and magazines to subscribers in our area of central Auckland. We employ staff to deliver to retail outlets and subscription-only letter boxes.
  • We are looking for "morning" people. The job is not physically taxing but will keep you fit. It best suits reliable, energetic, people who enjoy morning work. The job is varied and good fun. You are your own boss, delivering to the same route daily.  The delivery areas are quiet and safe.
  • We fully train our staff until they are confident and comfortable with their area. Staff are fully paid for all training. Training usually takes 3-4 mornings. Potential staff will be trained in our vehicles. Because we know our runs backwards, we are the best people to train you. We will teach the best places to stop and other technical and safety tips, to help make your job quicker and safer.
  • Once fully trained, the job requires staff to use their own vehicle to deliver. Vehicle wear-and-tear is minimal because of low-speed driving and very little traffic. Staff receive a full fuel/vehicle maintenance allowance for fuel used on the job.The work is 2 hours per morning, 7 mornings per week, finishing by 6am.
  • Once trained, staff are paid per paper, which equates to $21-22 per hour plus full fuel allowance.
  • Once trained in your delivery area, staff arrive around 4 am, in their own vehicles to allocated drop-off points (one in Ellerslie, the other in Meadowbank) and collect their newspapers.
  • Papers are split-up and separated per delivery run before staff arrive. A printed run list is attached to each delivery run. The run list is user-friendly and in sequential order of delivery. Because delivery is to subscribers only, there are very few changes from one day to the next.
  • Staff put the newspapers/magazines into their car and drive to their delivery area.
  • Most deliveries are to letterboxes, although cafes, petrol stations and retail outlets may be included in some runs.
  • The NZ Herald newspaper is delivered Monday to Saturday and on Sunday the "Herald on Sunday", Sunday Star Times" and "Sunday News" are delivered. There are some magazine deliveries, such as "The Listener", "North and South" the Woman's Weeklies during the week.
  • We have  2 vacancies: 1 in Mt Wellington, the other in Remuera. Please note you must have a full NZ driver’s license or equivalent. The jobs suit either a single person or couple.
  • Once finished, you drive home and enjoy your day - refreshed and invigorated!
  • Please note these are permanent positions. We have  2 vacancies: 1 in Mt Wellington, the other in Remuera. Please note you must have a full NZ driver’s license or equivalent. The jobs suit either a single person or couple.
  • Applicants will need to live in the Central/Eastern Suburbs of Auckland (Panmure, Glen Innes, Mt Wellington, Ellerslie, Meadowbank, Remuera, etc.).
