About the role

As one of St John's HR Advisors, you’ll be part of our HR Business Partnering team which consists of 18 experienced practitioners; and our wider People function which is made up approximately 70, so there are plenty of opportunities to grow and develop your career. Our environment is diverse with St John operating a front-line ambulance service, as well as community health programmes and our commercial endeavours.  We have approximately 13,000 members, both volunteers and paid employees working side by side - so this is really a unique opportunity to add to your HR skillset.

In the role, you’ll provide advice and guidance to people leaders on all aspects of the employment relationship, growing manager capability and mitigating risk to the organisation.

This varied role entails general HR advisory mahi within the wider HR Business Partnering Team, driving the development of high-performing teams, supporting change, working with unions, and contributing to our wider people strategy.  It is a great opportunity to form strong relationships within the organisation and become a trusted advisor.

We currently have opportunities within our Ambulance Operations, Community Health Services and our Corporate & Commercial portfolios.  

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Experience within an HR Advisor role, preferably with a large and diverse organisation
  • Proven ability with issues management and employment relations
  • A solid understanding of NZ employment law and current HR ‘best practice’
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong credible relationships
  • The ability to think critically and use initiative
