E rapuhia ana tētahi tūnga e kitea ai tō tino angitūtanga? | Looking for a role that will give you a real sense of personal achievement?

As a Vetter within a dedicated national firearms team, you will play an integral role improving public safety by stopping firearms falling into the wrong hands and reducing the risk of anyone becoming victims of firearms crime.

Directly supporting the district firearms licensing team, your role as Vetter is to determine an applicant’s suitability to be issued with a New Zealand Firearm’s Licence.

The role sees you extensively screening and interviewing licence applicants and their referees, as you work alongside the greater district-based team.  You will also be following legal requirements to assess firearm security setups in the applicants’ homes.

Great interview and report writing skills, a keen eye for detail and service centric skills, but no knowledge of firearms or of the Arms Act and Regulations? We are not expecting you to have these skills as you’ll be continuously trained and supported with all you need to thrive in the role.

At Police we foster a high-performing culture where people are supported and enabled to do their best, where you have options to work flexibly (from home, and from a police building), and where health and wellbeing are paramount.  A core value of Police is Valuing Diversity. We recognise the value different perspectives and experiences bring to making us better at what we do.

We are looking for people with a wide range of skills, backgrounds, life skills and levels of experience.
