As a Vetter within a dedicated national firearms team, you will play an integral role improving public safety by stopping firearms falling into the wrong hands and reducing the risk of anyone becoming victims of firearms crime.
Directly supporting the district firearms licensing team, your role as Vetter is to determine an applicant’s suitability to be issued with a New Zealand Firearm’s Licence.
The role sees you extensively screening and interviewing licence applicants and their referees, as you work alongside the greater district-based team. You will also be following legal requirements to assess firearm security setups in the applicants’ homes.
Great interview and report writing skills, a keen eye for detail and service centric skills, but no knowledge of firearms or of the Arms Act and Regulations? We are not expecting you to have these skills as you’ll be continuously trained and supported with all you need to thrive in the role.

Applicants need to be able to work in New Zealand and complete the Police vetting process.
Local travel is a requirement of this position as is the capacity to work in the early evenings, in order to meet with individuals who may be unavailable during the day. A full driver's license and reliable transport are essential as you will be required to use your personal vehicle for work purposes (costs will be reimbursed).
Your flexibility to work a combination from home and from your local Police Station is required.
This role is set at an Individual Contributor. level: this means your key purpose is to deliver (or enable others to deliver) “Our Business”.
