About the role

We are looking for an Engineering & Compliance Manager to join our Hotel Engineering & FM team.

Responsible for managing statutory and essential services building compliance for EVT’s New Zealand hotel portfolio the Engineering & Compliance Manager will have a sound technical background and be up to date with the latest regulatory developments in the industry. The position requires solid analytical skills alongside the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to other employees, management and key stakeholders. This role requires an engineering professional with an endless curiosity and a high capacity for knowledge acquisition.

This role also requires a proactive approach to problem solving when unexpected high priority defects may have an impact on asset operations, WHS or compliance.

What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary or Post Graduate qualification in Engineering, Buildings Services, Compliance Management or a related discipline, equivalent industry or organisational experience.
  • Project management experience in areas such as HVAC, Fire protection, electrical, plumbing/gas and related building services.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of the operational requirements of HVAC, Fire protection, Electrical, Plumbing/Gas and related essential building services.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, best practices and performance standards etc.
  • A thorough understanding of the requirements of AS/NZS 1851.
  • Asset lifecycle analysis experience & Asset financial planning and budgeting experience.
  • Experience with engineering software such as CAD and Advanced MS Office skills.
  • You have extensive experience with the following:
    • read, understand and analyse Engineering floor plans and other technical documents;
    • interpret fire engineering solutions and fire matrices (cause and effect matrices);
    • identify, manage and seek resolution to building defects; 
    • perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy;
    • prioritize and organize;
    • be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement;
    • follow directions thoroughly and accurately;
    • work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team;
    • work with minimal supervision;
