About the role:
Our client requires some who is fit and mechanically minded for Trade Assistant & Fire Sentry roles in Devonport.
The main duties include:
- Helping tradesmen (mechanical fitters or painters) with work set up, tools and equipment (not heavy work)
- Assisting tradesmen with their work - this may include mechanical work, sanding, grinding, or clean up of the work area
- Ensuring a safe working environment and mitigating fire risk
- Emergency evacuation procedures, in the case of an emergency
This is for an initial 3 month assignment commencing immediately and could possibly extend.
Skills + Experience:
For this role, you will:
- Be practical, mechanically minded and good using hand and power tools
- Be diligent and reliable, with excellent communication skills
- A current driver’s license
- Clean criminal history
- Supply 2 verbal references
- Some work experience (in Engineering or the Trades) will be an advantage, but is not essential
Pay + Benefits:
- Excellent rates + overtime rate (some overtime may be available)
- PPE is provided (except Safety Boots)
- Gain valuable experience on a large interesting project
About the Company:
Our client is a stable, essential service business that is the major provider of engineering services to the marine industry in NZ, operating at NZ’s largest dry dock. They undertake major projects for the refurbishment of Naval vessels and offer a range of short and long term project based contracts.
