Job Description
An urban bus driver is more than just someone who drives a bus.
You are connecting your community; ensuring people can get to the supermarket, the medical centre, catch up with their friends and of course, get to work, school and home.
As an urban bus driver, you may be the only person one of your passengers speak to during their day - and add a bit of comfort and friendliness to their day.
Urban bus drivers are responsible, community minded and at Tranzurban, trained to deliver a great service. You understand how to keep to a timetable, drive well and the safety of your passengers and your colleagues is paramount.
We are providing full, paid training for those people who have a Class 1 drivers licence for more than 2 years, who can pass a police check and a health check.
Training takes 5 weeks (paid at $23.65 per hour) and you will get your Class 2 Licence and P endorsement. Once you graduate to the driving roster, you'll be earning $30 per hour.
If you already have experience and/or your Class 2 or 4 licence and your P endorsement, your training may be faster.
Right now we're looking for full time drivers to work on our rotating roster with 80 hours per fortnight guaranteed.

In 2018 Tranzurban began operating 60% of the Metlink bus network under contract to Greater Wellington Regional Council . This includes delivering urban services in Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Wellington city.
Tranzurban also contracts to Auckland Transport in servicing the NX2 route on Auckland's North Shore.
