Our brand new The Warehouse store will be located in the Three Parks Retail Centre on Sir Tim Wallis Dr, estimated to open in late September 2023. We are hiring now, with an estimated start date of late July for Shopfloor and Nightfill roles, and late August for all remaining roles. This will give us time to train and equip you with the tools needed to succeed!

The Warehouse is the brand that began it all. Founded in 1982 by Sir Stephen Tindall, the first ‘red shed’ challenged established retailers and proved popular with customers as a result of its simple style, and wide range of products at bargain prices. We are now seeking a passionate store team to help bring our brand new store to life and serve the community of Wanaka!

Job Description

Admin Team Member- For this role, any previous experience in administration roles will be advantageous.You will be responsible for looking after stock control, monitoring team member compliance, reporting, liaising with vendors, invoicing, and complete stocktake duties. 

  • Position 1: Sunday - Thursday 8am-12pm
  • Position 2: Friday 8am-12pm and Saturday 8.30am-12pm

Apparel 2IC - As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with the Apparel Manager to lead and coach your team to success. Your creative eye for visual merchandising and planograms will help to create an attractive and engaging shopping experience for our customers. 

  • Position 1: Friday & Saturday 8.30am-5pm

Apparel - In this role, you will be responsible for assisting customers with their apparel needs and ensuring the department is visually appealing by creating attractive displays and arranging merchandise. Your knowledge of the department's layout will be crucial in ensuring that gaps are filled with appropriate products.

  • Position 1: Sunday - Thursday 12pm-8pm
  • Position 2: Tuesday - Saturday 12pm-8pm
  • Position 3: Friday & Saturday 8.30am-5pm
  • Position 4: Sunday & Monday 8.30am-5pm

Availability (Nightfill) 2IC & 3IC  - In this role, you will work closely with the Availability (Nightfill) Manager and 2IC/3IC by being responsible for stock availability, the process of re-stocking shelves, and the Nightfill team. 

  • Position 1 (2IC): Tuesday - Saturday 2.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 2: (3IC) Sunday & Monday 2.30pm-8.30pm

Checkout Team - In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring our customers receive speedy service at the checkout, while also making them feel appreciated and valued.

  • Position 1: Tuesday - Saturday 10.30am-4.30pm
  • Position 2: Friday & Saturday 2pm-8pm
  • Position 3: Sunday 2pm-8pm & Monday - Thursday 4pm-8pm
  • Position 4: Sunday & Monday 10.30am-4pm

Self Checkout - this role involves playing an active role in loss prevention to ensure no theft is taking place, ensuring the area is always customer ready (bags stocked, areas tidy), and being mobile to best respond to the needs of the customers and guiding them to the next available checkout. 

  • Position 1: Sunday 8.30am-4.30pm & Monday - Thursday 8.30am-3pm
  • Position 2: Tuesday - Saturday 2.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 3: Friday/Saturday 8.30am-3.30pm & Sunday/Monday 2.30pm-8.30pm

Gardening Team: In this role, you will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. If you're excited about the prospect of building a career in the retail industry and becoming an expert in all things gardening, this role will be perfect for you.

  • Position 1: Sunday - Thursday 10.30am-1.30pm
  • Position 2: Friday 10.30am-1.30pm

Fill Team  - As part of the Evening Fill team you will be responsible for helping to clear product deliveries from the stockroom and display it on the shop floor. You will be making sure the products are priced and that promotions are clearly ticketed, the right signage, as well as the store is clean and tidy. 

  • Position 1: Sunday - Thursday 2.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 2: Tuesday - Saturday 2.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 3: Sunday & Monday 2.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 4: Friday & Saturday 2.30pm-8.30pm

Price Integrity  - In this role you will facilitate price changes, set-up promotions while ensuring all ticketing is accurate, execute merchandising to high standards, and feedback trading info to management.

  • Position 1: Sunday/Tuesday/Wednesday 8.30am-5pm & Monday/Thursday 8.30am-4pm
  • Position 2: Friday and Saturday 8.30am-2.30pm
  • Position 3: Tuesday 4.30pm-8.30pm

Loss Prevention (Security) Officer - In this role, your primary focus will be on preventing shrinkage (theft) by monitoring security cameras, following procedures around recovery, and promoting a safe environment for both the team and customers.

  • Position 1: Tuesday - Saturday 4.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 2: Sunday & Monday 4.30pm-8.30pm

Trading 2IC - As the Trading 2IC, you will assist the Trading Manager with everything Shopfloor related, including The Entertainment and Technology departments and the Price Integrity function. You will demonstrate great leadership of the teams in these areas.

  • Position 1: Friday & Saturday 12pm-8.30pm

Shopfloor Team - You will thrive in our fast-paced environment and have a strong work ethic to get the job done on time without compromising service standards. You understand that success is a team effort, whether it's collecting trolleys from the car park, restocking shelves, cleaning areas of the store, ticketing products, or providing excellent customer service.

  • Position 1: Sunday & Monday 12.30pm-4.30pm
  • Position 2: Sunday & Monday 11am-7pm
  • Position 3: Tuesday - Saturday 11am-7pm
  • Position 4: Friday 12pm-6pm, Saturday 1.30pm-5.30pm & Sunday 12pm-6pm

Stockroom - You'll be responsible for tasks such as devanning, operating forklift and reach truck, and ensuring timely receipt of stock in accordance with in-store processes and guidelines. Maintaining cleanliness and handling waste and recycling appropriately will also be part of your role.

  • Position 1: Monday - Friday 7.30am-4pm
  • Position 2: Friday 1.30pm-4pm & Saturday 9.30am-5pm
  • Position 3: Tuesday 12.30pm-4.30pm

Sales Support 2IC - As Sales Support 2IC, you will work closely with the Sales Support Manager to assist in leading and developing your team in all customer critical processes at the "Front End"

  • Friday and Saturday 9.30am-6pm

Service Desk -  In this role, you will be based at our customer service desk. This role entails assisting our customers with their inquiries, processing returns, exchanges, refunds and transfers. You will also support Loss Prevention with security assistance and help support and supervise the Checkout area as required. 

  • Position 1: Sunday - Thursday 8am-2pm
  • Position 2: Tuesday - Saturday 2pm-8pm
  • Position 3: Friday/Saturday 8am-3pm & Sunday/Monday 2pm-8pm

Trolley Team - You know it takes working as part of a team to be successful whether it's collecting trolleys from the car park, restocking shelves, cleaning areas of the store, ticketing products, and of course helping your customers

  • Position 1: Tuesday - Saturday 8.30am-10.30am
  • Position 2: Sunday & Monday 8.30am-10.30am 

Trading 2IC (Warehouse Stationery)-  As the Trading 2IC, you will support the Trading Manager in all areas of Stationery, Entertainment and Technology, to assist with  the delivery and maintenance of merchandising standards, Managers Trading Plan and oversee the implementation of planograms. 

  • Tuesday - Saturday 8am-4.30pm

Copy Centre - In the Copy Centre role, we require someone with an unflappable nature and a passion for service.  You will get involved with photocopying, binding, laminating, creating in-store mugs and canvas, and helping with personalised product ordering.

  • Position 1: Tuesday - Friday 10am-6pm & Saturday 9am-6pm
  • Position 2: Sunday 9am-6pm & Monday 10am-6pm

Furniture/Technology Assistant - Keep the Furniture/Technology department looking fantastic by cleaning, ticketing and replenishing stock, when not busy helping customers with all of their furniture and tech needs! 

  • Position 1: Tuesday - Saturday 8.30am-2.30pm
  • Position 2: Tuesday - Saturday 2.30pm-8.30pm
  • Position 3: Sunday & Monday 8.30am-2.30pm
  • Position 4: Sunday & Monday 2.30pm-8.30pm


Ideally you will have:

  • Some experience in retail, hospitality or a customer facing role - preferable but not essential
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • The ability to undertake some heavy lifting, climbing ladders and being on your feet for long periods of time
  • Capable of being on your feet for long periods of time
