Our client requires people who are practical, reliable and process-driven for 5 different Trade Assistant/Fire Sentry roles in Devonport. You may be a student looking to get a foot in the door in the engineering industry, a current labourer or trade assistant looking for more experience or a more mature person looking to take a step back.
The positions are based across different workshops and duties may include:
- Assisting tradesmen (fabricators & welders, mechanics or mechanical fitters) with their work
- Assisting tradesmen with installing interiors on board vessels
- Helping with organisation and set up of tools, equipment and work areas
- Ensuring a safe working environment and mitigating fire risk
- Emergency evacuation procedures, in the case of an emergency
About the Company:
Our client is a major provider of engineering services to the marine industry in NZ, operating at NZ’s largest dry dock on the North Shore. They undertake major projects for the refurbishment of Naval vessels and offer a range of short and long term project based contracts.
Skills + Experience:
For this role you will need to:
- Be mechanically minded and capable of using hand tools
- Be fit, capable of some lifting and happy to work at heights or in confined spaces (if required)
- Be diligent and reliable, with excellent communication skills
- Hold a current driver’s licence and have a clean criminal history
- Some work experience will be an advantage, but is not essential (school leavers/uni students can apply!)
- Up to $28 per hour + overtime rate (based in skills and experience) + KiwiSaver
- Gain valuable experience in the trades working on a major marine project
