Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future
The Resource Consents and Compliance (RCC) Admin team is looking for a Development Contributions Assessment Officer to join their team. The RCC team sits within the City Consenting and Compliance team, that provide administration support to enable the Consenting team and the Compliance team to do their roles, as well as supporting the other functions we do under the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act, and help the public with advice on our processes.
The Assessment Officer role works to consistently apply the Development Contributions Policy on citywide development proposals and to asses and calculate developer-contribution fees and invoice accordingly.
This role could suit a recent graduate at the start of their career, who has recently gained a qualification in planning, building consents, surveying or similar; or it could be someone who has already had a career in one of these areas and is looking to step back and bring their experience to a different role. Whilst this role has administrative aspects to it, having an understanding of development contributions and building and resource consents is important, as well as being able to work with technical information, read plans and perform calculations (which can be complicated when relating to commercial developments). Strong communication skills will enable you to work with other teams internally as well as external stakeholders - you will need to be confident working with developers and customers. You will also need to have the ability to work through a process in a methodical way, well as have strong attention to detail - you will be managing your own workloads and working to deadlines.
Our preference is full time but we are open to considering those who can work 30-40 hours per week, to fit around other commitments. We are looking to appoint between $74,284 - $87,392 per annum for this role (full time), depending on relevant skills and experience.
Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.

All applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand.
