  • $27 per hour!


Mō te tūnga | About the role

The primary role of the IHC Calf & Rural Scheme Assistant is to raise funds for IHC from farmers in rural communities. You will work closely with IHC donors, PGG Wrightson agents, and transporters to ensure the seamless execution of our Calf & Rural Scheme. This role is critical in supporting our mission, ensuring that our fundraising efforts run smoothly and effectively. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Coordinator with the ongoing continuity of the scheme.
  • Support the Fundraising Administrator to keep all details up to date.
  • Organise canvassing supplies, including counting, boxing, and distributing them to canvassers.
  • Prepare bulk supplies and thank-you gifts for postage.
  • Accurately record ear tag numbers and maintain detailed records.
  • Coordinate with transporters for stock movement to sales.
  • Make phone calls to update file records and provide information to enquiries.
  • Maintain professional and appropriate communication with all IHC staff and supporters.


Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

  • Strong/proven administration experience
  • Understanding of Excel spreadsheets and general computer knowledge is advantageous.
  • Ability to lift boxes and move supplies as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with farmers, transporters, and IHC staff.
  • A valid driver's license is required for assisting with the collection and distribution of supplies (boxes) and for traveling to sales as needed.

IHC's Calf & Rural Scheme has been raising money to support people with intellectual disabilities and their families in rural areas of New Zealand for 40+ years.

People can pledge livestock and when they are sold the sale price is donated to IHC. Many farmers now choose to donate a virtual calf. This gift can be made as a one-off donation or a monthly gift.
