Job Description
Cross Country Rentals is looking for Casual School Drivers in the Christchurch area. You may be semi-retired or have a genuine interest in working with children.
You may be required to cover a morning and or afternoon shift (up to 4 hours) Monday to Friday as and when required. You'll be responsible for safely transporting school children with a range of disabilities to and from school and respite care for which you will be driving late model vehicles.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a positive and caring outlook with empathy required.
A Passenger licence is preferred but not essential. Assistance may be given to obtain appropriate licenses.
Extensive training will be given to the successful applicants from our approved industry training assessors.

Cross Country Rentals operates a number of Special Education School Transport Assistance (SESTA) runs on behalf of the Ministry of Education, which help caregivers with students who, because of their special needs, do not have ready access to education at their nearest school, or the nearest school that is able to meet their special education needs. We’re proud to offer SESTA services in Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu and Christchurch.
For our SESTA services we employ experienced caretaker drivers and carry out regular specialised training to guarantee the safety of the children we work with. Our dedicated SESTA operations supervisors liaise with schools, parents, students and drivers to ensure we continue to do the best we can at creating equal opportunities for all children in New Zealand.
