The NZ Kiwifruit Industry needs seasonal workers from March through June at orchards and packhouses in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, the Coromandel, the Bay of Plenty, Poverty Bay, Hawke's Bay, the lower North Island, and the Tasman area.
The NZKGI website has a regularly updated list of Employers looking for staff that can be accessed for packhouse work here and for orchard work here.
We also have the Kiwifruit Jobs NZ Facebook page where jobs are posted regularly. The NZKGI website also has information on working.
There is also a guide specifically for mature aged workers here
Roles:
- Packhouse roles are available to suit all ages, including sorting / grading, packing, packhouse supervision and management, and logistical support (e.g. forklift operation).
- Orchard work is available, which is quite physically demanding.
- Kiwifruit work isn't just limited to harvest and post-harvest picking and processing, however; growing kiwifruit is nearly a year-round operation and long-term and permanent roles are also available.
- A number of kiwifruit employers have made provisions for seniors wishing to take up seasonal roles such as shorter shifts and job-sharing arrangements.
For over a quarter of a century, NZKGI has been the voice for New Zealand's 2600 Kiwifruit growers, providing practical support and acting as an advocate for the industry at government level.
