Access Community Health has been at the forefront of keeping people healthy and safe in their homes since 1927. In those early days the 'bush nurses', members of the Women's Division Federated Farmers, rode horseback to people isolated in rural communities bringing valuable support and care, assistance in the home and maternity support.
Today, our nationwide team of skilled nurses and 3,000 support workers visit over 40,000 people in their own homes to provide nursing, personal care, rehabilitation and household assistance. Across New Zealand we make three million visits per year, ensuring people can remain active and independent in their own homes and community.
Access is part of the Green Cross Health Group and sits at the forefront of the home and community health sector. Green Cross Health is a primary healthcare provider, delivering integrated healthcare solutions to New Zealanders. It represents over 300 community pharmacies under the Life Pharmacy and Unichem brands, 41 medical centres, community nursing via Total Care Health and home healthcare through Access.
Our approach
Access believes that health involves the whole person, not merely the absence of disease or ill health. The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is a fundamental right of everyone. We develop the support plan (specific services) in partnership with our client and their family or whanau. This ensures that the client play a part in the services they receive.
