Network Demand and Capacity Planning Manager | Auckland

Job Description

Network Demand & Capacity Planning Manager

  • Turn complex data into clear, practical operational plans
  • Newly created role, come in and own this space
  • Based in Highbrook, East Tamaki

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

At NZ Post, the network never stands still. Volumes shift. Peaks hit. Disruptions happen. This role sits at the centre of it all, creating a clear, single view of demand and translating it into smart, cost effective capacity plans that keep the network delivering on time.

You will connect forecasting, operations, and network design, ensuring the right capacity is in the right place at the right time. It is part strategist, part problem solver, part integrator.

In this role you will be:

  • Leading and continuously improving demand forecasting and planning
  • Translating forecast data into optimised capacity plans across processing, and last mile
  • Identifying network constraints early and recommend practical solutions
  • Running scenario modelling to assess risks, disruptions and network design opportunities
  • Leading the S&OP demand cycle and present clear insights to senior leaders
  • Partnering across operations, finance, digital and network design to align plans and execution

You'll be curious to know and understand how the network truly operates, and in doing so, you'll build trust across stakeholders, and proactively prepare the network for the weeks and months ahead.

Mōu - About you

You may not come from logistics and that is absolutely fine.  What matters more is that you have worked in a large, complex organisation where no two days look the same.  You are used to ambiguity, disruption and shifting priorities and you know how to stay calm, think clearly and adapt when plans change.

You are naturally curious.  You want to understand how things work beyond your immediate remit and how decisions in one area impact another.  You do not just produce a forecast, you ask what it means, what could go wrong, and how to make it work better.  You bring a practical, solutions focused mindset and enjoy collaborating with others to solve real problems.

You'll combine that with:

  • Experience in demand planning, capacity planning, forecasting or a highly analytical role with strong transferable skills
  • Experience operating in complex environments where disruption and change are common
  • Advanced Excel skills with the confidence to work at both high level and granular detail
  • SQL and or Power BI capability, or the ability and motivation to build these skills
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach with the confidence to suggest creative solutions
  • A collaborative style, strong communication skills and a genuine willingness to learn

Most importantly, you are a team player who is comfortable leaning in, asking questions and building understanding of how the wider network operates, even if you have not worked in one before.
