Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist | Wellington

Job Description

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Love solving problems and helping people? You will be the go-to expert for tricky queries, smoother processes, and strong customer outcomes. As our Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will be at the centre of our day-to-day AR operations, keeping service delivery moving in line with standards and SLAs, resolving exceptions, and supporting the team when things get complex.

You will be the person people rely on to untangle issues, whether it is a challenging customer enquiry, a data mismatch, a system question, or a process gap that needs improvement. You will work across high volume domestic and international portfolios, supporting consistent service delivery in line with best-practice standards and internal controls, and coordinating with teams across the business to keep things accurate and on time.

This is a hands-on, delivery focused role where you will take ownership end-to-end, improve how things run, and help lift capability across the team.

You will achieve that by:

  • Owning complex customer enquiries through to resolution with a focus on root cause fixes
  • Supporting the delivery of AR activities in line with service level agreements and standards
  • Reducing exceptions and rework through accurate, consistent execution
  • Providing expert guidance on systems, processes, and AR design improvements
  • Working with Credit Control, Sales, offshore AR, and others to resolve issues at source
  • Delivering clear operational reporting and ageing insights
  • Leading continuous improvement that simplifies workflows and strengthens consistency
  • Coaching others to lift confidence, capability, and quality

Mōu - About you

You are an experienced AR operator who likes things to run smoothly, accurately, and on time. You manage workloads confidently, navigate deadlines, and work well with others to keep the operation moving.  You will bring calm, clarity, and a customer first mindset, especially when volumes spike.

You will combine that with:

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in high volume Accounts Receivable or Finance Operations
  • Transferable experience from banking, utilities, telco, logistics, insurance, or shared services
  • Strong knowledge of AR controls, reconciliations, and exception management
  • Confidence working across multiple systems, datasets, and daily ageing
  • Clear communication with customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to identify root cause and deliver fixes that last
  • Comfort working to SLAs, cut offs, and competing priorities
  • Experience with process improvement with a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for smarter, simpler, better ways of working - Lean Six Sigma or similar is a plus!

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being around the team, sharing expertise, and keeping AR operations running smoothly for our customers and the business.
