We have a lovely opportunity for someone kind, capable, and experienced in supporting older people—especially those with early-onset dementia—to spend the summer in one of New Zealand’s most scenic coastal spots. Our client is a 91-year-young gentleman who’s looking for a live-in companion to make his days a little easier and a lot more enjoyable. Your role would include helping with things like grocery shopping, sharing meals, light household tasks, and—most importantly—offering great company and conversation. He’s an independent man who enjoys cooking (and eats well when someone’s around to remind him not to skip meals!). He shares his home with his wife, though she travels frequently to Auckland, so having someone around for support and companionship is important. Are you looking for part time work, a few hours a week (with a possibility of increasing) to be a Companion to a lovely, spritely lady in Te Awamutu? She can no longer drive herself so is looking for someone to take her on drives around the area she grew up in, to spend time with her, helping out with a little weeding in the garden and making and sharing lunch together over stories. We are looking for a kind, empathetic person with a sound sense of humour and an active listener with a full, clean drivers licence to help our client rediscover some of the joys of getting out and about in some nostalgic areas such as Pirongia.
