Road Operations Manager

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role:

Reporting into the Head of Network Operations, the primary focus of this opportunity is ensuring that the relationships with our Transport Contractors are maintained and built into a strong partnership with NZ Post. That all road transport operates to the highest standard, achieving top class safety, service, and people outcomes within budget.  

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all NZ Post Transport Contractors operate within our Safety & Wellbeing requirements. This includes maintaining Vault for incidents, contractor documents and registers. Participating as required in safety and accident investigations and working to minimize hazards.
  • Developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with Transport Contractors.
  • Ensuring Transport Compliance is up to date. Managing non compliance, and ensuring Transport KPI's are achieved.
  • Managing relevant invoices, maintaining accurate invoicing records and processes, issuing new schedules, and ensuring changes to schedules are updated and paid correctly.

Building effective partnerships comes naturally to you, and you're skilled at managing contractor relationships and collaborating with people to deliver results. Alongside the above, you'll couple this with:

  • Experience in a support role, relationship management role or office environment where you have managed suppliers/contractors.
  • Previous experience in the transport/freight industry.
  • Experience with invoicing, accounts, or finance.
  • Has working knowledge of relevant H&S legislation and practices.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to maintain relationship with contractors.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills, internally and externally.
  • Practical analytical skills.
  • Ability to learn new software and apply to the role.
