Help shape the future of NZ Post's Mail business and influence one of the most significant business transformations in New Zealand.

At NZ Post, we're reimagining the future of mail.

As customer needs, technology and market dynamics continue to evolve, we're making important strategic choices about the future of our Mail and Datam businesses. This is a rare opportunity to work alongside senior leaders to help shape that future, providing the clarity, insight and strategic direction needed to support enterprise and Board-level decision-making.

You'll partner closely with the GM Mail Transition and senior leaders across Commercial, Finance, Enterprise Strategy, Network, Regulatory and Digital & Technology teams. You'll help translate strategic direction into clear roadmaps, compelling executive narratives and actionable recommendations that support long-term value creation for NZ Post.

This is not a traditional programme management role. It's a role for someone who can bring structure to complexity, connect the dots across multiple perspectives, and turn ambiguity into clear recommendations and priorities.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

• Developing executive-quality presentations, Board papers, discussion documents and briefing materials that support strategic decision-making.
• Translating strategic direction into clear roadmaps, milestones, dependencies and priorities.  
• Supporting the evaluation of strategic options, opportunities, risks and trade-offs.
• Monitoring customer, market, industry and regulatory trends to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
• Synthesising complex information from multiple stakeholders into clear recommendations and insights.  
• Coordinating inputs across Commercial, Finance, Enterprise Strategy, Network, Regulatory and Technology teams to build an aligned enterprise view.  
• Supporting governance forums and maintaining visibility of key decisions, dependencies, risks and actions.
• Tracking progress against strategic priorities and helping maintain focus on agreed outcomes and benefits.

We're looking for a strategic thinker and exceptional communicator who can create clarity from complexity, influence senior stakeholders and help guide strategic decisions in a dynamic and evolving environment.

What that looks like:

• Outstanding executive communication and storytelling skills - you're able to take complex, ambiguous issues and turn them into clear, compelling presentations, papers and recommendations.
• Strong strategic thinking capability - you can evaluate options, identify trade-offs, challenge assumptions and connect long-term vision with practical action.
• Experience supporting senior decision-makers - you're comfortable working with Executive Leadership Teams, governance forums and senior stakeholders.
• Influencing and stakeholder management skills - you can bring people together, align perspectives and drive progress without direct authority.
• Structured problem-solving capability - you know how to gather information, synthesise insights and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Commercial and business acumen - you understand how strategic choices translate into value creation, customer outcomes and business performance.

We'd love to hear from people with experience in:

• Strategy and transformation
• Corporate strategy
• Internal consulting
• Management consulting
• Chief of Staff roles
• Enterprise change and transformation
• Commercial planning and strategy
• Strategy Office or Transformation Office environments

Experience in logistics, postal, infrastructure, transport or other complex network-based industries would be highly regarded but is not essential.
