The role is starting February 2027 for 6-12 months

Our client wants to remain in her home for as long as possible. She lives independently in a 3 bedroom cottage within a retirement village in Rotorua.

She is lovely, petite, quiet, innocent and sweet. She has previously loved gardening and her family is extremely important to her.

Our client is a devout Christian with a strong faith and would love to have someone to share this with. Her faith is extremely important to her.

She has mild dementia and has lost her short term memory. She enjoys short outings, gentle movement and good nutrition. 

She has a large family who have all been supporting her over recent years. They have now realised that she needs more consistent reliable care and they love the idea of a live in Companion as they want to ensure that she is happy and safe at all times in her own environment.

Having someone around (especially evenings and overnight) would be a great peace of mind for the family.

Her late husband had a wonderful Filipino companion who lived with them and cared for him in their home until he passed away. Our client and her family loved their Filipino Companion for her gentleness, compassion, support and shared faith. 

Hours

The role is expected to be between 35 and 40 hours per week (spread across, days, evenings and very occasionally some weekends) with a weekly wage of between $790 and $940 before tax.

Typically this role is a few hours each morning with time off in the afternoons and then dinner prep, light chores and assistance in putting our client to bed. The family are around to spend time with our client over weekends so her Companion will have this time to themselves.

Room and board is included

Your accommodation is a well-appointed queen sized bedroom with your own sky TV and shared bathroom. All meals and utilities are provided.

Requirements

• Experience with dementia

• NZ full residency required

• Full NZ drivers licence

• NZ Police Check

• NZ Credit Check
