Visiting Caregiver - 30 hours per week

$36.00 - $38.00 hourly

Job Description

We are seeking a kind, patient, and engaging carer/companion to support a wonderful 75-year-old woman in her home.
Our Client has progressively lost her short-term memory and, while she is still physically capable and able to get herself ready each day, she now spends long periods sitting quietly and can become withdrawn. Our goal is to lift her spirits, keep her mentally and socially engaged, and support her to remain living at home for as long as possible. She has become more anxious and fragile, and we want to try some more preventable supportive measures where we can.
She lives with her husband, who provides ongoing support, and this role is intended to complement that care rather than replace it.
About the role
This is a companion-focused position centred on engagement and wellbeing rather than personal care.
Key activities will include:
•     Spending time talking and engaging in conversation
•     Playing games, doing puzzles, or other enjoyable activities
•     Taking her out for a coffee or short outings
•     Providing gentle encouragement and social interaction
•     Creating a calm, positive, and reassuring presence
No heavy personal care is required.
Hours
•     Monday to Friday
•     10:00am – 4:30pm
•     No weekends or public holidays
About the Client
•     75 years old
•     Lives at home with her husband
•     Still independent with dressing and personal routines
•     Best suited to someone warm, upbeat, and able to gently engage and redirect when needed
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
•     Kind, patient, and reliable
•     Comfortable working with someone experiencing memory loss
•     A good communicator who enjoys conversation and connection
•     Ideally experienced in aged care, dementia support, or companionship roles (but this is not essential for the right person)
This is a meaningful role for someone who genuinely enjoys making a difference and helping someone feel valued, engaged, and supported.
