Business Development Specialist (Full Time - Wellington)

We are seeking a driven Business Development Specialist to join our APC Technical Solutions team at NZ Safety Blackwoods, supporting an established customer base across the Lower North Island.

Our Technical Solutions division is proud to represent leading industry brands across Gas Detection, Flow Control, Instrumentation, and Hose & Fittings. This role plays a critical part in both maintaining and growing existing customer relationships, while identifying new opportunities for sustainable growth.

To be successful, you must have proven experience selling either Gas Detection or Flow Control solutions, and be confident working in technical, industrial environments. This role involves regular travel of 3-4 days per month across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive sales and margin growth across the Lower North Island region
• Manage and grow an established customer base, ensuring continuity of service
• Provide technical support and collaborate with internal teams on joint customer calls
• Coach non-technical teams to improve lead generation
• Develop and execute action plans to achieve sales targets
• Lead RFPs, contract negotiations, and customer presentations
• Identify customer needs and deliver tailored technical solutions
• Maintain CRM accuracy and actively manage the sales pipeline
• Work in line with company policies and safety standards

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Minimum five years’ experience in technical sales or account management
• Must have experience in Gas Detection or Flow Control
• Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills
• Proven relationship management capability
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Highly organised, proactive and self-motivated
• Relevant tertiary qualification (engineering/electrical preferred)
