Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible People Business Partner role where relationships, influence and strategic thinking are at the heart of your success.  Partnering with senior and operational leaders across our business, you'll be responsible for a portfolio where you'll help shape business performance through effective people strategies, leadership practice and organisational capability.

Reporting to the Head of People Business Partnering, you'll act as a trusted advisor, helping leaders navigate opportunities and challenges across workforce planning, organisational change, employee relations and team effectiveness.  Importantly, you'll be supported by a strong team of People specialists, allowing you to focus on partnering with the business, influencing decision making and delivering people outcomes that enable operational success.

You'll be doing things like:

  • Partnering with senior leaders to align people strategy with business priorities and operational goals
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice
  • Coaching and challenging leaders to strengthen capability, performance and team effectiveness
  • Leading people-related initiatives including organisational change and transformation activities
  • Working closely with unions and employee representatives to support positive employment outcomes
  • Leveraging specialist expertise across ER, Talent, OD and Reward to deliver integrated people solutions

You're a People Business Partner who excels at building credibility with senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes in complex environments.  You understand how to balance strategic thinking with practical execution and are confident navigating competing priorities, ambiguity and change.

You bring a collaborative approach and know that successful business partnering is built on strong relationships, commercial understanding and the ability to coach, challenge and support leaders to make better decisions.  You'll be comfortable operating within a unionised environment and have a track record of partnering with leaders through business change, growth and transformation.

You'll bring:

  • Solid experience in a senior HR Advisor or People Business Partner role
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing experience at senior leadership level
  • Experience partnering within large, complex and ideally unionised environments
  • Proven capability in organisational change, workforce planning and organisational effectiveness
  • Excellent coaching, communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commercial mindset with the confidence to challenge thinking and shape decisions
